This series of photographs was taken along Bangladesh's Jamuna River, which is an ongoing project I initiated in 2015. The Jamuna River sustains the lives of 1.8 million people, serving as the lifeblood for agricultural irrigation, fishing, and water transportation. Yet it endures the dual pressures of monsoon flooding and industrial and domestic pollution. Floodwaters destroy homes, while pollution threatens water quality, placing the survival and development of riverside communities in grave peril. Fortunately, international assistance has arrived: emergency aid from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund effectively addressed flood disasters, while the World Bank's “Jamuna Economic Corridor Development Project” advanced basin management. These actions have gradually improved conditions—flood response has become more efficient, water quality is slowly recovering, and riverside residents now enjoy greater security in their daily lives.
