Bangladesh, home to over 5% of the world's child population, is a hotspot for child labor and out-of-school children. Despite ratifying the International Labour Organization's Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the country continues to grapple with severe child labor issues. According to UNESCO statistics, Bangladesh has approximately one million child laborers aged 10 to 14. Most of these children work in factories, the garment industry, agriculture, and domestic service. Many of these jobs involve extremely harsh working conditions, extremely low wages, and a lack of basic safety protections, causing immeasurable harm to the children's physical and mental health.
